
Spring is in the Air
Spring is the season of new beginnings, new life, and regrowth. This season is generally consider the period between the vernal equinox and summer solstice. While there are many symbolism’s that coordinate with spring, flowers will focus for today. Here are a few symbolisms and folklores regarding the flowers we associate with spring.
Daffodils. Symbol of good luck. Whoever sees the first daffodil of the year will be blessed with good and abundance for the year. You should always give as bunches and it is considered bad luck to gift just one. Good weather will only arrive after the last daffodil has died away.
Snowdrops. Symbol of hope, purity and death. Considered bad luck if you pick this and bring into your home. Snowdrops are the first to bloom because they gave its color to snow, when no other flower would. They are protected from the cold weather because of this act of kindness. They’re also known as Snow Lilly.
Violets. Symbol of fertility, romance, humility, and luck. They are also thought to help ward off evil spirits. In the Victorian language violets meant that the sender is preoccupied with love for the recipient. In Roman mythology one of goddess Diana’s nymphs were transformed into a violet after protecting her from advances of Apollo. The goddess Venus transformed a mortal girl into a violet after her son, Cupid, said she was more beautiful than her.
